i graduated already but i just wanted to share one of my many awful lunches

A Humble Reflection: A Look Back at My Less-Than-Perfect Lunches

As a recent graduate, I often find myself reminiscing about the daily routines that once seemed so routine—some of which, looking back, weren’t exactly culinary masterpieces. Today, I want to share a candid glimpse into one of my many less-than-stellar lunch experiences from those days.

Often, my midday meals felt like a haphazard compilation of whatever was available, rather than thoughtfully prepared nourishment. It was not uncommon for me to toss together a quick assortment of items, sometimes giving little thought to flavor or freshness. For instance, a combination like a stale turkey and pastrami sandwich, served alongside a surplus of citrus and fruit snacks, was a typical quick fix.

My lunches might include a selection of the following: an orange for some vitamin C, a dried fruit mix for a sweet crunch, and a variety of juice options—be it apple, orange, or chocolate milk—lining the table. Sometimes, I’d supplement these with fresh oranges or a box of apple juice, always searching for a moment of satisfaction amid convenience.

Looking back, these meals serve as a humorous reminder of those busy days, where practicality often trumped culinary finesse. They reflect the reality of student or busy lifestyles, where grabbing something quick and easy was usually the best option—even if it meant settling for a less-than-perfect lunch.

Despite their flaws, these memories remind us of the importance of balanced, thoughtful eating, and the journey we all take toward better habits. Here’s to embracing growth, both in our pursuits and our plates!
