just graduated, getting invited to teacher parties

Navigating Invitations to Professional Gatherings as a Recent Graduate

As a recent graduate stepping into the professional world, I recently received an invitation to a gathering primarily comprised of teachers—29 educators, along with their guests. Interestingly, only five students were invited to join. This situation has left me pondering: if my best friend chooses not to attend, I might opt out as well.

In general, I tend to prefer keeping my interactions with teachers confined to the classroom environment. I find it uncomfortable when personal and professional boundaries blur outside of school hours, and I usually avoid socializing with teachers in informal settings unless I have a close relationship with them.

Have any of you experienced similar scenarios? If so, what was your approach? Do you have any advice on how to navigate social invitations that involve educators outside of the traditional school context? I would appreciate insights or suggestions from those who have encountered comparable situations.
