Choosing a Path to Make a Difference: Physics and Psychology
Deciding on a career that not only fulfills your intellectual curiosity but also allows you to positively impact others is an important and often challenging process. Recently, I’ve been reflecting on the fields of Physics and Psychology, both of which resonate deeply with my passions.
From a young age, I’ve been captivated by Physics. The idea of exploring the universe, inventing new technologies, and contributing to scientific progress excites me. I see Physics as a way to create innovative solutions and advancements that can improve lives on a broad scale.
Meanwhile, Psychology has emerged as a meaningful avenue for personal and social impact. Having faced personal challenges, I feel a strong desire to understand and support others through their struggles. Psychology offers the opportunity to connect with people on an empathetic level and help them navigate their own journeys.
At 19 years old, I’m currently pursuing my undergraduate studies, and I expect to complete my bachelor’s degree by the spring semester at age 22. Looking ahead, I recognize the importance of strategic planning, especially since learning complex subjects tends to become more challenging with age. I am contemplating a combination of these interests—perhaps pursuing a double major or concurrent studies in Physics and Psychology.
My current plan is to focus primarily on completing my Physics degree, while also taking Psychology coursework during my undergraduate years. Later in life, I hope to explore graduate studies in either social work or psychology to deepen my capacity to support others, alongside pursuing advanced degrees in Physics.
Balancing these paths is ambitious, but I believe with careful planning, it’s achievable. Combining technical mastery with psychological insight could open doors to a uniquely impactful career dedicated to advancing knowledge and aiding others.
