Reflecting on the School Year: Personal Class Ratings and Experiences
As the academic year draws to a close, it’s a great opportunity to look back and evaluate each of your classes. Here’s a personal summary of my experience this year, reflecting on what worked, what didn’t, and my overall impressions.
Environmental Science – 7/10
This course was relatively straightforward, which I appreciated. However, working with certain group members was challenging—they were uncooperative and reluctant to communicate. It took me hours to complete an assignment that was never graded, leaving my final grade just shy of perfection. Still, I enjoyed the teacher’s approach and found the content manageable.
Geometry – 7.5/10
I really liked the instructor and found geometry to be an accessible subject. Unfortunately, the classroom environment was disrupted by some students who either paid no attention or tried to irritate the teacher. This led to a tense atmosphere, with several students failing and widespread use of dishonest methods during tests. Despite this, I managed to finish the course with an A and remain hopeful that my next math course will be as smooth.
World History – 3/10
This class was disappointing; much of the instruction was replaced by computer-based work dominated by heavy grading criteria. The tests required near-perfect scores merely to prevent grades from dropping, which made the course stressful. Many students were disengaged, finding the repetitive assignments uninteresting. I ended up with a solid B but felt frustrated—hoping US History isn’t as taxing.
Lunch Break – 5.5/10
Lunchtime was rather dull, mainly because I don’t have friends at this school after transferring post-freshman year. Still, it provided a break to focus on homework and relax.
Advanced Art – 1/10
This was undoubtedly the most challenging part of my year. Finishing semester one with a C was a blow to my confidence, raising concerns about college prospects. I often stayed up all night to meet project deadlines. Although semester two was somewhat better, I ended with a B, and many classmates struggled to complete their artwork. Looking back, I prefer my earlier art classes and the teaching style from my freshman year—this experience was tough, but I’m glad to be done with it.
Advisory – 6/10
A mostly uneventful class, but the year was marred by tragedy; our teacher was absent for the last month following the loss of her son.
