Reflecting on a School Year: My Class Ratings and Experiences
As the academic year draws to a close, many students are taking a moment to evaluate their experiences across different classes. Here’s a look back at my own journey, with candid reflections on each subject.
Environmental Science – 7/10
This class was relatively straightforward, which I appreciated. However, I faced social challenges—my group members were difficult to collaborate with and often uncommunicative. Additionally, I spent several hours working on assignments, only to have them remain ungraded, which kept my grade just shy of a perfect score. Nonetheless, I genuinely enjoyed the teacher and the subject matter.
Geometry – 7.5/10
I found Geometry enjoyable due to an engaging instructor and manageable coursework. Unfortunately, some classmates displayed disruptive attitudes—many paid little attention or intentionally provoked the teacher. This behavior affected the class environment, leading to frustrations. Despite the distractions, I finished confidently with an A, and I hope Algebra II proves to be just as manageable.
World History – 3/10
This class was largely frustrating, primarily because there was little direct instruction; much of the work involved repetitive computer assignments. The grading system was highly weighted, making it difficult to improve grades without significant effort. Most students disengaged from the workload, resulting in poor performance for many, including myself—though I ended with a high B. I’m quite apprehensive about future history courses, particularly US History.
Lunch Break – 5.5/10
Lunch was mostly uneventful and somewhat monotonous, especially since I didn’t have friends at this school following my transfer after freshman year. Still, it served as a decent opportunity to complete homework or take a break.
Advanced Art – 0/10
This was one of the most disappointing experiences. I ended the semester with a C—my first in high school—which raised concerns about college admissions and future prospects. The workload was intense, often requiring late nights to meet deadlines, and most classmates struggled with unfinished projects. Although the second semester was somewhat better, I ended with a B. I’m relieved not to have to revisit this class, especially since my earlier art classes were much more enjoyable and I preferred my freshman-year teacher.
Advisory – 6/10
While I like the teacher, the class was quite dull, especially since she was absent for the last month due to personal reasons. I hope she’s doing better now. It’s also
