Since the school year ended/ it’s about to end, what do you rate all of your classes? I’ll go first

Reflecting on the School Year: Personal Class Rankings and Experiences

As the academic year draws to a close, it’s a great opportunity to look back and evaluate the classes you’ve taken. Here’s a personal rundown of my experience across different subjects, rated from my perspective. Hopefully, this provides a relatable glimpse into the highs and lows of high school life.

Environmental Science – 7/10
This class was straightforward and manageable, which I appreciated. The instructor was engaging and knowledgeable. However, my group members were challenging to work with—they rarely communicated or collaborated effectively. It also took me three hours to complete an assignment that the teacher never graded, leaving my final grade at 94 instead of a perfect 95. Despite the frustrations, I enjoyed the teacher and the content.

Geometry – 7.5/10
I found Geometry quite enjoyable thanks to an inspiring instructor and a relatively easy curriculum. Unfortunately, many classmates exhibited disruptive behavior—they often paid no attention or annoyed the teacher, which created a tense classroom atmosphere. Several students failed, and cheating was rampant on tests designed to be simple. Nevertheless, I finished the class with an A, hopeful that Algebra II will be just as manageable.

World History – 3/10
This was one of my more disappointing classes. Much of the time was spent on computer-based tasks rather than traditional teaching, which felt unengaging. The grading system was heavily weighted, requiring a high score on tests to maintain grades, which added pressure. The majority of students found the computer work repetitive and dull. I ended the class with a high B, but I remain frustrated, especially considering how challenging I expect US History to be.

Lunchtime – 5.5/10
A middling experience overall, lunch was quite boring. Having transferred schools after freshman year, I didn’t have friends to socialize with, making it less enjoyable. Still, it served as a decent time to catch up on homework.

Advanced Art – 0/10
This class was the most stressful part of my year. I ended the first semester with a C—my first in high school—raising concerns about college prospects. I often pulled all-nighters to complete projects on time. Though the second semester was slightly better, I still managed to finish with a B. Most classmates showed incomplete work, and I’m relieved I won’t have to enroll in this class again. I much preferred my freshman art class and the guidance from my previous teacher.
