Reflecting on the School Year: Grades, Experiences, and Personal Insights
As the academic year comes to a close, it’s a perfect time to evaluate and share personal reflections on the classes we’ve taken. Here, I offer an honest overview of my experiences, grades, and what I learned along the way.
Environmental Science – 7/10
This class was relatively straightforward, which I appreciated. I enjoyed the teacher’s approach, but unfortunately, my group members proved challenging—they rarely communicated and made collaborative work difficult. I spent hours on assignments, only to find they weren’t graded, which kept my grade at a 94 instead of a 95. Despite the frustrations, I liked the instruction overall.
Geometry – 7.5/10
My experience with Geometry was positive because I liked the teacher and found the coursework manageable. However, peer behavior was problematic—many classmates seemed disengaged or disruptive, which affected the classroom atmosphere. Cheating on simple exams was common, and the teacher’s frustration was noticeable. Despite this, I finished with an A and hope Algebra II proves just as manageable.
World History – 3/10
This course was quite disappointing. The teacher mainly assigned computer-based tasks with minimal instruction. The grading system was heavily weighted; a high test score was necessary just to maintain my grade. Most students were unmotivated, finding the repetitive assignments dull. I ended with a high B but found the experience frustrating. If future history courses are as lackluster, I’ll be quite disappointed.
Lunch Break – 5.5/10
The lunch period was somewhat monotonous, especially since I don’t have friends at this new school due to transferring after freshman year. Still, it’s a decent opportunity to catch up on homework or relax, so it served its purpose.
Advanced Art – 0/10
This class was incredibly challenging. I finished Semester 1 with a 79%, earning my first C in high school, which worries me about college prospects. I had to pull numerous all-nighters to complete projects on time. Semester 2 improved slightly but not enough to boost my final grade beyond a B. Many classmates struggled to finish assignments, and I’m relieved I won’t have to take this class again—my previous art teacher and the earlier semester’s workload were much more manageable.
Advisory – 6/10
While I enjoy the teacher, her absence in the final month due to a family tragedy cast a shadow over the
