Understanding the Impact of Single-Gender Spaces on Inclusion of Gender-Diverse Individuals
In the realm of societal development, the issue of segregated spaces and their influence on gender diversity inclusion has become increasingly relevant. As part of my Year 12 Society and Culture major project, I am exploring how the growing separation within homosocial environments — such as sports clubs, religious groups, scouts, and community organizations — affects the participation and acceptance of gender-diverse individuals.
This research aims to shed light on whether single-gender settings foster inclusivity or contribute to exclusion for those who do not conform to traditional gender binaries. To gather meaningful insights, I have created a survey open to all demographics. The survey assures anonymity; no personal information like names or emails is collected. However, it does include questions regarding gender identity, age group, and country of residence to better understand regional and demographic differences.
I invite individuals involved in or familiar with single-gender activities—such as sports teams, religious groups, youth organizations, and other similar groups—to participate and share their perspectives. Your responses are especially valuable, particularly from gender-diverse and transgender participants, as I have received limited input from these communities so far.
Additionally, I am happy to reciprocate by completing surveys or offering guidance on research topics related to this subject. If you’re a student working on similar projects or interested in exploring issues of gender diversity and inclusion, feel free to reach out. I am passionate about this field and eager to exchange ideas or assist others in their academic pursuits.
Your input will contribute significantly to understanding how these spaces shape gender diversity inclusion. Thank you for your support and participation.
