Understanding the Impact of Single-Gender Spaces on Gender Diversity Inclusion
As part of my Year 12 Society and Culture coursework, I am exploring a compelling sociological topic: the increasing polarization of homosocial environments and their influence on the inclusion of gender-diverse individuals.
This research aims to shed light on how segregated spaces—such as sports teams, religious groups, youth organizations, and clubs—affect the experiences and acceptance of gender-diverse communities. I am seeking participation from individuals across all demographics to complete a brief survey. Rest assured, no personal identifiers like names or emails are collected; only questions regarding gender identity, country of residence, and age are included.
I am reaching out here in case others are interested in contributing or are working on similar subjects. It would be particularly valuable to hear from members of single-gender groups, including sports clubs, scouts, religious organizations, or YMCA-affiliated programs, as many teenagers participate in these environments.
Your input is highly valued—especially from gender-diverse or transgender individuals, as responses so far have been limited. All feedback will contribute to a richer understanding of this important issue.
Additionally, I am more than happy to exchange insights, complete other surveys, or offer advice on selecting research topics and conducting studies for high school projects. I am passionate about this subject and am finishing the entire course in less than a month.
Thank you for your support and participation in advancing this important discussion!
