Understanding Single-Gender Spaces and Their Impact on Gender Diversity Inclusion: A Student Initiative

As part of my Year 12 Society and Culture coursework, I am exploring a pressing social issue: the increasing polarization of homosocial spaces and the implications this has for the inclusion of gender-diverse individuals. If you’re interested in the dynamics of gendered environments such as sports teams, youth organizations, religious groups, or other single-gender spaces, I invite you to participate in a brief survey designed to gather insights on this topic.

This survey is open to individuals from all backgrounds. Rest assured, it collects no personally identifiable information; only demographic details—such as gender, country, and age group—are included to contextualize the data. Your contribution can help shed light on how gender-diverse people experience and navigate spaces traditionally divided along gender lines.

I particularly encourage participation from individuals involved in or familiar with single-gender settings, including sports clubs, scouting programs, youth groups like YMCA, religious communities, and similar organizations. Many teenagers are active in these environments, and your perspectives are invaluable.

Your responses are deeply appreciated, especially from gender-diverse and transgender individuals, as their voices are currently underrepresented in this research. Furthermore, I am more than willing to support others with their own research projects or offer advice on selecting and conducting high school studies related to social issues. Having completed my course in less than a month, I am eager to collaborate and share insights on this fascinating subject.

Thank you for taking the time to contribute—your input can help foster a deeper understanding of inclusivity within gendered spaces.
