Exploring the Impact of Single-Gender Spaces on Gender Diversity and Inclusion
As part of my Year 12 Society and Culture major project, I am delving into an increasingly relevant social issue: the rise of polarized homosocial environments and their influence on the inclusion of gender-diverse individuals. My research seeks to understand how spaces traditionally restricted to one gender—such as sports teams, youth groups, scouts, religious organizations, and similar settings—affect the experiences and acceptance of gender-diverse people.
To facilitate this exploration, I have developed a survey designed for people across all demographics. Participants’ responses are anonymous, with no collection of personal identifiers like names or emails. The survey includes questions about gender, country of residence, and age group, aiming to gather diverse perspectives.
I invite anyone, especially those involved in single-gender settings, to participate. Many teenagers engage in these environments, and your insights are incredibly valuable. Your input will significantly contribute to my understanding of how gender-specific spaces impact inclusivity, particularly from the viewpoints of gender-diverse and transgender individuals.
Your participation would mean a lot, especially as I am still gathering responses from various groups. I also welcome offers to exchange surveys, provide feedback, or seek advice on exploring similar topics in high school projects. I am passionate about this subject and am on the verge of completing my course, which adds motivation for meaningful insights.
Thank you in advance for your support and contributions. If you’re interested in participating or connecting about related topics, please feel free to reach out!
Note: This post aims to foster respectful dialogue and understanding around gender and inclusivity in various social spaces.
