Understanding the Impact of Single-Gender Spaces on Gender Diversity and Inclusion
As a Year 12 student currently undertaking my Major Work for Society and Culture, I am exploring a crucial and timely topic: the increasing segregation of homosocial spaces and its implications for the inclusion of gender-diverse individuals. This research aims to shed light on how spaces traditionally divided by gender influence opportunities and experiences for those who identify outside the gender binary.
To support this project, I have developed a brief survey designed to gather insights from a broad demographic spectrum. Participants from all backgrounds, ages, and countries are welcome to contribute—your responses remain anonymous, with no personal identifiers collected apart from general demographic information such as gender, country, and age group.
The survey particularly seeks input from individuals involved in single-gender environments—including sports teams, youth groups, religious organizations, and similar settings—since many teenagers participate in such spaces. Your perspectives are vital in understanding the nuances of gender inclusion within these contexts, especially from gender-diverse and transgender individuals who often face unique challenges.
