Understanding the Impact of Single-Gender Spaces on Gender Diversity and Inclusion
As part of my Year 12 Society and Culture major project, I am exploring a timely and significant topic: the growing polarization of homosocial spaces and how this trend influences the participation and inclusion of gender-diverse individuals.
This research aims to shed light on how environments traditionally segmented by gender—such as sports teams, youth organizations, religious groups, and community clubs—affect the experiences of gender-diverse members. Given the increasing visibility of gender diversity in society, understanding these dynamics is crucial for fostering more inclusive communities.
Participation in the survey is open to all individuals, regardless of background. Rest assured, no personal identifiers such as names or emails are collected. The questionnaire includes questions on gender, age, and country, to help analyze responses across different demographics.
If you are involved in or have experience with single-gender spaces—such as sports teams, scouting, youth groups, or faith-based organizations—your insights would be particularly valuable. Currently, responses from gender-diverse or transgender individuals are especially welcome, as their perspectives are vital for a comprehensive understanding of the issues.
I also welcome offers to exchange surveys or to provide guidance on conducting research for similar projects. As I am passionate about this subject and nearing the completion of my course, I am eager to connect with others interested in exploring topics related to gender, inclusion, and community spaces.
Your participation and insights could contribute significantly to a meaningful discussion on creating more inclusive environments for everyone. Thank you in advance for your support and engagement!
