Standing Firm in Authenticity: Why I Abstain from Using AI Checkers in My Writing
In today’s digital landscape, many writers rely on AI-based tools to evaluate the originality of their content. However, I choose to steer clear of these AI detection systems altogether. My stance is simple: if my work gets flagged, so be it. I refuse to diminish the quality or sophistication of my writing just to satisfy algorithms that aim to identify AI-generated content.
Maintaining the integrity of my voice is more important than conforming to artificial markers of originality. I pride myself on crafting genuine, well-structured writing—complete with stylistic elements like em dashes, Oxford commas, and complex sentence constructions—that may resemble AI output but is entirely my own. So far, my approach has served me well; teachers and evaluators have never challenged the authenticity of my work, despite it triggering every known AI detection metric.
Confidence in one’s authenticity is key. If ever confronted about the origins of my writing, I am more than willing to reproduce my work in front of them. Ultimately, authenticity trumps superficial algorithms—because genuine writing speaks for itself.
