Enrolling at a different college for summer

Summer Enrollment at Another College

I’m a senior who has just been accepted into Georgia Tech, and I’m excited to commit! One of the requirements for my major is ENGL 1102, which I’d like to complete over the summer before starting my fall semester. Is there a way for me to enroll in a different college, such as GSU or Kennesaw, this summer and transfer those credits back to Georgia Tech? Would this be considered enrolling in two colleges at once?

  1. Yes, it is definitely possible to enroll in a different college for a summer course and transfer those credits back to Georgia Tech, as long as you follow the proper procedures. You would not be considered as enrolling in two colleges simultaneously since summer courses typically have a separate enrollment process.

Here are some steps you can follow:

    1. Check Transfer Credit Policies: Review Georgia Tech’s transfer credit policy to ensure that the ENGL 1102 course you plan to take at GSU or Kennesaw is eligible for transfer and meets the requirements for your major.

    2. Obtain Pre-Approval: It’s recommended to get pre-approval from Georgia Tech. You can do this by contacting your academic advisor or the registrar’s office to confirm that the course will transfer and satisfy your requirement.

    3. Enroll in the Summer Course: Once you have confirmation, you can enroll in the ENGL 1102 course at the other college.

    4. Request Your Transcripts: After successfully completing the course, request that your transcripts be sent to Georgia Tech so they can apply the credits towards your degree.

    5. Stay Informed on Policies: Make sure to stay informed about any deadlines or policies regarding transfer credits at Georgia Tech.

By following these steps, you should be able to complete the course without any issues. Good luck with your transition to Georgia Tech!
