Am I in the Wrong?

So, here’s what happened. I was in my Arabic class studying for an exam when, about 30 minutes into it, one student got in trouble. The teacher started to really lay into him, and a few of us, including myself, couldn’t help but laugh. The teacher then called me out and seemed to put the blame on me, even though I tried to explain that we were all laughing at the situation. In the heat of the moment, though, logic didn’t really prevail. As a result, he sent me to the office.

The office staff talked to me and then sent me back to class. When I returned, the teacher had given me a zero and marked my behavior down, which dropped my grade from an 80 to a 65. After class, he told me to write an apology letter that needed my mom’s signature. I shared this with my mom, and she ended up emailing the school administration about it.

So, what do you think? Am I in the right or wrong? Also, since I was sent to the office, I missed out on crucial information for the test, and now I’m really worried I might fail the class this quarter.
