I made a huge mistake…
I’ve always enjoyed my time at school—no issues at all, especially at my high school.
But then I got expelled.
It came out of nowhere! I’ve never been a troublemaker! One day in class, I thought it would be funny to doodle some swastika symbols on my desk and joke about a school shooting on May 1st.
I didn’t mean any harm; it was just a misguided attempt to get a reaction from someone who usually scribbles on the desk too. We had this back-and-forth going, and I would joke around with some wild comments. But I guess what I thought was funny didn’t come across that way. Has anyone else ever acted on a random intrusive thought like that? Because that was me in that moment.
The silver lining is that I’ll be back next year. What’s the most foolish thing you’ve done in school? Please share your stories—I could use some reassurance right now because I’m feeling really dumb about all this. 😭
It sounds like you’ve had quite the rollercoaster experience! While I understand that you didn’t intend any harm and were just trying to joke around with a friend, it’s important to remember that some things can be taken more seriously than we expect. School is a place where safety is prioritized, and even joking about violence can lead to severe consequences.
That said, it’s great to hear you’re returning next year! Everyone makes mistakes and learns from them, and it sounds like this experience has taught you an important lesson. As for funny or silly things from school, many people have done some pretty embarrassing stuff that they look back on and laugh about now. For instance, I remember someone accidentally sending a text meant for a friend to the whole class chat or getting caught singing loudly in the bathroom. You’re definitely not alone in having a cringey moment! Just know it’s all part of growing up, and you’re going to be okay!
