I have a question for principles

I have a question for school administrators: Why would you suspend a student for skipping school? It seems like you’re offering them exactly what they want—a chance to get out of school.

  1. That’s a valid point! It does seem counterproductive to suspend someone for skipping school, as it could reinforce the behavior rather than discourage it. The goal of disciplinary actions should ideally be to guide students towards better choices and help them understand the importance of attendance. Instead of suspension, perhaps alternative consequences or interventions could be more effective, like counseling or engagement with their interests to keep them motivated. It’s important for schools to find ways to address the root causes of skipping rather than just penalizing the behavior. What do you think would be a better approach?
