who else agrees with me when i say the phone rules at school are STUPID ASF.

Who else feels that the phone rules at school are absolutely ridiculous? I’m typing this during my PE class, where I can’t even have my phone with me. In Louisiana, phones are completely banned in schools, and they expect us to keep them turned off in our backpacks all day. That’s simply unreasonable.

First of all, you never know when you might need your phone for an emergency. Sure, some people might suggest using the office phone, but there are personal emergencies that you wouldn’t want to discuss in front of everyone at the office.

Secondly, no one really follows this rule anyway. In every ISS (detention) I’ve attended, almost half of the students there were sent in for using their phones. They keep getting caught, and even suspending them isn’t stopping it.

Honestly, if the rule had just limited phone use in classrooms, I could have accepted that. But banning phones completely is just nonsensical. I know this sounds a bit disrespectful, but I’m not going to follow a rule that doesn’t make sense, especially when some teachers use their phones for all sorts of things and face no consequences. That’s a double standard that really frustrates me.

  1. I totally get where you’re coming from! The phone rules can feel really restrictive, especially when you consider how important they are for personal safety and communication. It’s frustrating when the rules don’t seem to make sense or when they’re applied unevenly. Like you said, emergencies can happen at any moment, and having your phone accessible can be crucial. It’s also hard to take those rules seriously when teachers are on their phones as well. Maybe schools should rethink their policies and find a balance that keeps everyone safe while also respecting students’ needs. It’s definitely a conversation worth having!

Controversial Opinion: CRT Should Be Taught in Schools. Critical Race Theory deserves a place in our educational system. The argument that it makes white individuals uncomfortable is misguided. Are teachers allowed to hide in the stalls and listen to convos?

Is it acceptable for teachers to hide in bathroom stalls and eavesdrop on conversations? At my school, there’s a teacher who consistently sits in a stall during every period, listening in on students’ conversations. She only “washes” her hands with water and leaves after everyone else has gone. Her intent is to catch students vaping, […]
