Can someone help me figure my classmate out??

Can anyone help me understand my classmate’s behavior?

Here’s some context: last semester, I was in a class with this guy, and for most of the term, he would either sneak glances at me or openly stare. Naturally, I assumed he didn’t like me. But then, when our groups got reassigned, he chose to sit next to me. We ended up chatting about video games, which I love, and we connected pretty well. However, after that group switched, we stopped talking, and he returned to just staring at me.

Now, we’re in another class together this semester, and he’s started staring again. I’m confused about what it means. He clearly knows how to engage in conversation with me, so why the staring? Does he dislike me or is there something else going on?

  1. It sounds like this situation is really confusing! Based on what you’ve shared, it seems like your classmate might actually be interested in you but struggles with how to show it. Staring can often be a sign of attraction, even if it feels weird, especially since he was able to chat with you about something you both enjoy.

His initial behavior could be a mix of nerves and curiosity. Sometimes, people stare when they’re trying to work up the courage to approach someone, or they might feel shy and unsure how to engage again after having talked once. Just because he stared instead of continuing the conversation doesn’t mean he hates you—he might just feel a bit awkward about it.

If you’re interested in getting to know him better, you could try making the first move again. A simple smile or friendly wave could help break the ice. Maybe you could also bring up a topic from your last conversation about video games to see if he opens up again. It sounds like there’s potential for a connection, so giving him some encouragement could help!
