As a college student navigating the demands of a Computer Science major, I’ve come to appreciate the unique advantages of starting my day earlier, specifically with an 8 AM schedule. While it may appear daunting to some, I’ve found that waking up at this hour has transformed my productivity levels and overall time management.

More Hours in the Day

For those who may be accustomed to late mornings, the cultural myth surrounding early hours might suggest they are inherently unpleasant. However, I’ve discovered that waking up earlier actually grants me a more spacious feeling throughout the day. There’s something refreshing about having a head start on my responsibilities, allowing me to complete tasks before the world fully awakens.

Daytime Productivity

I tend to be more efficient during the day, making the early start beneficial to my workflow. As a CS major, I often juggle projects alongside the continuous search for internships and job opportunities. The quiet morning hours provide a serene backdrop for tackling complex coding challenges or preparing application materials without distractions.

A Balanced Schedule

While I wouldn’t mind if some of my classes ran a little later—say starting at 9 or 10 AM—I’ve found that having most of my classes earlier in the day offers a significant advantage. It enables me to free up afternoons to focus on studying, enjoy leisure activities, or simply unwind before night falls.

Finding My Rhythm

Interestingly, I’ve noticed that my natural waking time aligns with sunrise. This just shows that with a bit of adjustment to my sleep schedule, early mornings can become second nature rather than a chore.
