Reflecting on College Drinking Habits: A Personal Journey
As I approach the final stages of my college experience, I find myself reflecting on my drinking habits over the past few years. Throughout my time at university, I’ve indulged in alcoholic beverages regularly, typically enjoying a weekly night of revelry. Occasionally, this has doubled to two nights each week. As a result, I’ve started questioning whether my habits reflect an unhealthy relationship with alcohol.
While I often joke that concerns about drinking only arise after graduation, I understand that alcohol misuse can occur at any stage in life, including during college. This notion isn’t just a lighthearted quip; it comes from personal experience, particularly having witnessed the impact of alcohol on my mother’s life.
I appreciate those who have expressed concern for my well-being, but my main objective here is to gain insight into the drinking experiences of others during their college years. I wonder how my habits compare to those of my peers. How often did you indulge in drinking while in school? Did you find yourself drawn to the party scene, or did you prefer a more moderate approach?
As I navigate this final semester, I hope to open up a dialogue about our experiences, offering a chance for reflection and understanding—without judgment. Let’s share our stories and help each other make sense of this important, formative time in our lives.
