Over the past several years, my school district has been trying to use more and more measure to block specific websites (mostly games websites) on the school computers, and we have responded by finding more and more ways around all the filters.
At this point the school has added so many different programs and filters that many innocent terms are blocked, we can’t even use Google dice because it’s blocked for gambling. We have responded through a variety of methods such as altering the url so that the website loads through Google translate, using a virtual desktop to access home PCs from the school computers, and I even have a friend who made his own website with various different proxies.
Is anything similar happening at your school? If so, what’s the strangest thing that’s blocked and what is the craziest way students have gotten around the filters?
