Title: Personal Insights into the Challenges of the Hawaiian School System

Introduction:
Educating youth is a critical societal responsibility, yet, like many systems worldwide, Hawaiian schools face significant challenges and complex stories that often go unspoken. As a student navigating this environment, I have witnessed and experienced a range of issues, from unaddressed misconduct to systemic shortcomings. Here, I aim to shed light on some of these realities in hopes of fostering awareness and discussion.

School Environment and Hidden Incidents:
My high school in Hawaii has a history of controversial events that are frequently concealed or dismissed. For instance, there was a recent case involving a special education teacher who was arrested for inappropriate conduct with a student over several months. Despite clear warning signs, many students ignored or overlooked these red flags because the teacher was popular and well-liked. The school mentioned this incident only once and never addressed it further, leaving many students wondering about the full story. Additionally, the year prior, a girl was tragically killed in a car accident right outside the school. Her passing received extensive media coverage and a week of mourning, contrasting sharply with the minimal acknowledgment given to the male student’s situation, who was considered a troublemaker and was barely mentioned afterward.

School Culture and Social Media:
In our school community, social media platforms like Instagram played a significant role in documenting conflicts—fights, inappropriate videos, and other misconduct were shared openly. One notable incident involved a student exposing herself on camera during a fight. These instances highlight the systemic issues within the
