Understanding the Impact of Single-Gender Spaces on Gender Diversity and Inclusion: A Call for Insights
As part of my Year 12 Society and Culture major project, I am exploring the growing divide within homosocial environments and their influence on the inclusion of gender-diverse individuals. This research aims to shed light on how spaces traditionally segregated by gender—such as sports clubs, youth organizations, religious groups, and similar settings—affect the opportunities and acceptance for those who identify outside the gender binary.
I invite participants from all backgrounds to contribute to a brief survey designed to gather perspectives on this important topic. Rest assured, no personal identifiers like names or contact details are collected—only demographic information including gender, country, and age group is requested.
If you are involved in or have experience with single-gender communities, your insights would be especially valuable. Many young people participate in activities such as sports teams, scouting, religious youth groups, or YMCA-related programs, and your input can help deepen understanding of the inclusivity within these environments.
Your responses are deeply appreciated, particularly from gender-diverse and transgender individuals, as my current pool of responses is limited.
Additionally, I am more than willing to collaborate—whether it’s completing other surveys, providing advice on choosing research topics, or offering guidance on conducting high school projects related to societal and cultural studies. As I am nearing the completion of my coursework, I am eager to support others who share this academic passion.
Thank you for contributing to this important conversation. Your participation can help foster greater understanding and positive change within gendered spaces.
