Understanding the Impact of Single-Gender Spaces on Gender Diversity Inclusion
As part of my Year 12 Society and Culture major project, I am exploring an increasingly relevant issue: how the segregation of homosocial spaces influences the inclusion of gender-diverse individuals. This research aims to shed light on the dynamics within single-gender environments—such as sports clubs, scouting groups, religious organizations, and similar settings—and their effects on fostering or hindering diversity and acceptance.
I invite participants from all demographics to contribute to this study through a brief, anonymous survey. Rest assured, no personal identifiers such as names or emails are collected. The survey includes questions about gender identity, geographic location, and age group to help analyze trends across different populations.
Your participation would be especially valuable, particularly from those who are part of, or have experience with, single-gender groups. This includes individuals involved in sports teams, youth organizations, religious groups, or similar communities—many of which involve teenagers. Responses from gender-diverse and transgender individuals are particularly appreciated, as data on this perspective is currently limited.
If you’re interested, I am also open to reciprocal support—whether that’s completing other surveys related to social and cultural topics, or offering advice for those undertaking similar research projects during high school. With my course ending soon, I am eager to learn from others and exchange insights.
