Title: Navigating Last-Minute Thesis Errors: A Student’s Perspective on Graduation Challenges
As I recently submitted my master’s thesis, I’ve found myself grappling with a wave of anxiety upon discovering some overlooked mistakes. Despite the substantial effort and careful attention I paid to the main body of my work, a few formatting errors slipped through in the final hours.
One of the main issues involved the table of contents, where the numbering skipped from 1.3 to 1.3.2 instead of 1.3.1, even though the section itself was correctly numbered in the document. It appears that the TOC did not update automatically before submission. Additionally, in the references section, I failed to italicize certain titles and made a small typographical error in another citation. These seemingly minor details have me worried about whether such mistakes could jeopardize my graduation.
The reality is, I dedicated most of my focus to the core content of my thesis, ensuring that the research and arguments are solid. However, the last-minute rush to meet the deadline led me to overlook these formatting issues. Now, with the deadline passed and no opportunity for corrections, I’m feeling overwhelmed and anxious about the potential consequences.
Living with ADHD has made the process even more challenging, especially under tight timelines. I worked tirelessly on this project, and graduating next week is crucial for my future. At 25 years old, I need to move forward in life, and the thought of delaying graduation or facing setbacks is incredibly stressful.
While I hope that these small errors won’t significantly impact my graduation status, I know that the path forward requires resilience. For anyone in a similar situation—especially those juggling additional challenges—remember that perseverance and advocating for yourself are key. No matter what happens, I believe in the importance of recognizing the effort we put into our work, even when it falls short in minor ways.
To anyone reading this: stay focused, don’t be too hard on yourself, and remember that setbacks are just part of the journey. Graduation or not, your dedication and hard work are worth celebrating.
