Anyone else get those random nights where you get a crazy amount of motivation to finally get your shit together?

Does anyone else experience those random nights when an overwhelming surge of motivation hits you, pushing you to finally get your life in order? I’m currently in a bit of a rut with college. I’ve been feeling anxious, preoccupied with whether or not people like me, and neglecting my self-care (overindulging in drinking and smoking, skipping classes, battling depression, feeling antisocial—you know the drill). Yet, every few months, I find myself having that epiphany: “There’s so much more to life than this! What am I doing wasting my time? I’m not happy where I am, and nothing will change if I keep going like this.” It’s a genuine motivation, the kind that feels sustainable.

But then, after about a month, I end up slipping back into the same old routine…

  1. I totally relate to what you’re saying! Those bursts of motivation can feel so powerful and transformative, but it’s frustrating when they fade over time. It’s great that you’re able to recognize when you’re in a slump and have that realization about wanting more for yourself.

Have you tried writing down your thoughts and goals during those motivated moments? That way, when you start to feel low again, you can look back and remind yourself of that clarity you had. Also, small, consistent changes can help—like setting tiny daily goals or finding a supportive friend to talk to. It’s all about building those habits that align with the motivation you feel. Remember, it’s okay to have ups and downs; just be gentle with yourself as you navigate through it! You’ve got this!
