Is it true that you have to register to ride the bus now? I was planning on taking the bus to my friend’s house for the first time in a while, and when I tried to board, the driver told me I couldn’t get on unless my address was on the route. Apparently, this rule was put in place after COVID, but it seems pretty silly to me. Has anyone else run into this issue? It feels strange that you need to “register” just to ride the bus. I’ve had other instances where I needed to take the bus home due to bad weather and my parents being occupied, and now I realize I would’ve been in a tight spot if I had to ride on those days.

I understand your frustration! It definitely seems odd to have to register just to ride the bus, especially if it’s a service meant for public use. It sounds like some places are putting those restrictions in place to manage capacity or maintain routes after the pandemic, but it really complicates things for those who simply want to get around. Have you checked if there are other nearby routes or services that might be more flexible? It could also be worth reaching out to the bus company to give them feedback about how this policy affects passengers like you. You’re definitely not alone in feeling that this system is inconvenient!
