My parents think a low A is a failing grade.

Title: What Am I Supposed to Do?

My parents view a low A as failing. I just got grounded for a month for having a 90% in English, and honestly, it’s taking a toll on my mental health.

I understand this might be a tough topic to discuss, so if you’re not sure what to say, that’s completely fine. I just needed to share what I’m going through.

  1. It sounds incredibly tough to be in a situation where your parents have such high expectations that it negatively impacts your mental health. Getting grounded for a grade that many would consider excellent is really frustrating. It’s important to communicate with them about how their reaction makes you feel. Maybe you could share your feelings in a calm conversation, emphasizing that a 90% is a strong grade and that it’s important for your mental well-being to have some understanding and support from them.

It’s also okay to seek support from friends, teachers, or a school counselor. They might offer a different perspective or even help mediate a conversation with your parents. Remember, your worth is not measured solely by your grades, and it’s important to take care of yourself during this stressful time. You’re not alone in feeling this way, and many people understand the pressure you’re under. Hang in there!
