Heart set on Columbia University

Aiming for Columbia University

As a sophomore, I find myself fixated on attending Columbia University. I can’t quite explain it—one day, I just decided that Columbia was the place for me. Every time I mention it or someone else brings it up, I feel this tightness in my chest that’s almost painful. I know my chances are slim, but I’m determined to build a strong resume to improve them. This decision also influenced my choice of high school, and it’s been a frustrating journey. It’s not about chasing prestige; I have no interest in Harvard or Cornell or any other Ivy League schools—just Columbia. It’s overwhelming, and I can’t shake this feeling.

  1. It’s completely normal to feel this way about a school, especially one as unique and vibrant as Columbia. Your passion is evident, and that’s a strong motivator as you work towards your goals. It sounds like Columbia resonates with you on a deeper level, whether it’s the environment, the culture, or the opportunities it offers.

Remember, it’s great to aim high and push yourself to build a competitive resume, but try not to let the pressure weigh you down too much. Focus on what you can control: your grades, extracurriculars, and personal interests. Keep exploring what makes Columbia special to you, and figure out how you can reflect that in your applications. And while you’re working towards Columbia, don’t forget to enjoy your high school experience and stay open to other possibilities that might come your way. You’ve got this!
