I really need to move on from someone, and I could use some help.
Just to give you some background, I’m a sophomore in high school about to enter my junior year. I’ve known this guy “J” since freshman year, and we had a few months where we both liked each other but never actually dated. We stopped talking for reasons that aren’t important now, and I haven’t communicated with him in over a year. The problem is, I still have strong feelings for him, and I don’t think I’m making enough effort to let go.
We don’t have any classes together, even though we’re in the same courses, so I don’t have many chances to interact with him. Recently, I heard from a friend that he’s planning to transfer to a very competitive school. While I’m not entirely surprised—other students from our grade are making similar moves—I had hoped he’d stay since I think our school has a great program. He’s academically strong, just like me, but he clearly has different priorities.
With just a few months left in the school year, I know I need to get over him quickly. It would be tough to keep liking someone I might never see or talk to again. Does anyone have any advice for me?
