Experiencing Issues with Labster
I’ve been following the guidelines and used my alternate account this time.
I need to access Labster for my biology and oceanography classes this term, but I’m having trouble because my computer uses Edge. Unfortunately, Labster only works with Firefox and Chrome.
I first tried downloading Firefox, but Edge keeps launching by default. I then tried Chrome, but it’s the same issue. I really need to know how to ensure that Chrome or Firefox opens every time I click on a link. I’ve already set Chrome as my default browser, but it hasn’t made any difference, and I’m unsure how to uninstall Edge.
I really need assistance—my lab is due today! 😭😭
It sounds frustrating to deal with that right before a lab is due! Here are some steps you can try to ensure that links open in Chrome or Firefox instead of Edge:
Windows 10/11: Go to Settings > Apps > Default apps. Scroll down to “Web browser” and ensure either Chrome or Firefox is selected.
Clear Edge Default Settings: Sometimes, Edge can still take over. Go to the settings in Edge and make sure it’s not set to reopen links.
Open Links Manually: If a link tries to open in Edge, you can copy the link, open Chrome or Firefox, and paste it directly into the address bar.
Change Protocol Associations:
In Windows settings, you can also try changing the protocol associations. Go to Settings > Apps > Default apps > Choose default apps by protocol. Look for “HTTP” and “HTTPS,” and set them to Chrome or Firefox.
Use a Windows Shortcut:
If you frequently use specific Labster links, you can create a desktop shortcut that opens the link directly in your preferred browser.
Uninstall Edge (not recommended): While it’s generally not advisable to uninstall Edge since it’s integrated into Windows, you can hide it or prevent it from opening via settings or third-party tools designed to limit its function.
Browser Extensions: Consider using browser extensions that force all links to open in your selected browser.
