I’m really feeling the weight of parental pressure right now. I just shared with my dad that I got a 90 in math, and to my surprise, he dismissed it as a “low grade” and said it wasn’t good enough. Being French, my parents have a pretty low opinion of the American education system, so for them, anything less than a 100 feels like a failure. He even mentioned that my 3.7 GPA isn’t impressive, especially since some students get into Harvard with a 4.0+. Honestly, I’m feeling so discouraged that I don’t even want to put in the effort in math anymore.

I accidentally searched something concerning self-harm on my school email. I didn’t realize my personal laptop was logged in to it. Will the school be able to see this search? They usually use Chrome, but I searched it on Bing. I know I’m on my own Wi-Fi, but could they still access it? If they […]
Am I okay?
Am I alright? I have a financial aid appointment on March 11. I need to create a FAFSA account and complete the financial aid forms for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 school years, as well as a federal loan application. How long does it typically take to set up a FAFSA account and finish the financial […]
I hate physics
I can’t stand physics. I’m not even sure why I signed up for this class in the first place. I knew it would be challenging since it’s an AP course, but honestly, nothing in here makes any sense to me. The notes feel like they’re written in some ancient language that just confuses me even […]
I’m really sorry to hear that you’re feeling this way. It sounds like a lot of pressure to live up to such high expectations. A 90 is still a solid grade, and you deserve to feel proud of your accomplishments, regardless of what others think. It can be tough when parents have different expectations, especially when they come from a different educational background. Remember that your worth isn’t defined by your grades, and it’s important to find value in your hard work and effort. If math isn’t your favorite, maybe taking a break or doing something you enjoy can help you find your motivation again. You’re not alone in feeling this way, and it’s okay to take a step back and focus on your own goals.
