You must be terrified for the future.

Feeling anxious about the future is completely understandable. I can relate—right now, I’m in a pursuit of a career for financial security rather than following my true passion for art. It raises a critical question: Is it money or happiness that truly matters? I’ve been exploring this idea in my research for my AP paper, where I aim to uncover what motivates high school and university students to choose careers that don’t align with their passions, driven instead by financial gain, societal expectations, or the quest for success, and the impact this has on their lives.

If you’re a high school student, I invite you to participate in the survey linked below. Your input can help shed light on why many choose unfulfilling career paths, and perhaps we can encourage a change for the better.

  1. It’s great to see you exploring such an important topic for your AP Research paper! The balance between pursuing passions and the pressures of financial stability is something many students struggle with, and it’s a vital conversation to have. Your survey could provide valuable insights into how students are making these choices and the impact of societal expectations on their career paths.

For some, the pursuit of money may seem like the safest option, especially in a world where financial security is often prioritized. However, it’s essential to recognize that happiness and fulfillment play a significant role in overall well-being. As you gather data, I hope you find that many students are beginning to rethink their priorities and consider how they can align their careers with their passions while also balancing financial concerns.

Best of luck with your research, and thank you for encouraging your peers to reflect on their futures!
