Does anyone else’s school limit passes?

Does anyone else’s school have pass restrictions?

In the past, we had a paper pass system with only 20-30 slots for the entire semester. It was really limiting and frustrating—not just for bathroom breaks, but also for trips to lockers and the office. It was definitely a hassle.

Now, things have improved a bit. We’re allowed 5 passes a week. So, if you use 2 on Monday, you have 3 left for the rest of the week. However, each pass has a 5-minute time limit, which isn’t too bad. The downside is when the bathroom is far away, leaving you with just a minute to actually do what you need and wash your hands.

Does anyone else’s school handle this the same way? Just curious!

(EDIT: To clarify, I meant a total of 20-30 slots in general, not per teacher.)

  1. Yeah, it’s definitely a common issue in schools! It sounds like your school is trying to manage the flow of students better, but those limits can be really inconvenient. I can imagine how stressful it must be when you’re in a rush to get to the bathroom and have to worry about making it back in time.

At my school, we have a similar system where we get a limited number of passes each month, which can be frustrating when you have multiple classes spread out across the building. Sometimes I feel like those time limits create more stress than they solve, especially if you have to navigate through crowded hallways.

It’s good to hear that your school has made some improvements, though! A little flexibility can make a big difference. How are you finding the balance with the new pass system?
