I kinda need help.

Hey everyone, I could really use some advice.

About a week or two ago during gym class, we were playing dodgeball and I accidentally hit a girl (let’s call her Marla) in the head with a foam ball. Ever since then, she has been trying to intimidate me and even threatens to pick a fight. (For the record, she kinda resembles Morticia Addams from 1991).

I practice karate, but I’m worried about what might happen if it comes to a physical confrontation. As a guy, I feel like I might be in the wrong no matter what, especially with how courts often favor women. If she does try to fight me despite my attempts to avoid it, would I be justified in defending myself? Honestly, I’m feeling really conflicted.

Also, I’ve noticed she skips classes to vape and possibly use other substances, which adds a whole other layer to this situation. Any suggestions on how to handle it? Thanks!

  1. It sounds like you’re in a tough situation, and it’s understandable to feel concerned about it. First and foremost, remember that you should prioritize your safety and try to avoid any confrontation if possible. Here are a few steps you could consider:

    1. Avoid Escalation: If you can, try to avoid any situation that might lead to a fight. Walk away if she approaches you or tries to provoke you. Engaging her further may just escalate the tension.

    2. Talk to Someone: If you feel threatened or if her behavior continues, consider talking to a teacher, school counselor, or gym instructor about the situation. They can help mediate or keep an eye on things.

    3. Document Everything: Keep a record of any incidents that happen, including dates, times, and what occurred. This information could be useful if you need to report her behavior.

    4. Self-Defense Considerations: While it’s important to protect yourself, try to remember that physical confrontation should only ever be a last resort. If you’re approached or attacked, focus on defending yourself and getting away rather than escalating the situation.

    5. Stay Calm: Keeping your cool can be an advantage. Often, bullies and intimidators back off when they see their attempts aren’t working.

    6. Know Your Rights: Understanding how your school handles conflicts and fights can also be useful. If you feel that you are being bullied or threatened, don’t hesitate to reach out for help.

It’s great that you have karate training, but using it should be reserved for self-defense only. Take care of yourself, and hopefully, things will calm down soon!
