Should I enroll in two art courses?
As I prepare for my first year of high school, I’ve been selecting my elective courses. The only ones that truly interest me are drama and instrumental band, so I’ve decided to take both. I’m also considering continuing with both into grade 10.
However, I’m starting to wonder if this is the right choice. I worry that by focusing solely on the arts, I might be overlooking some important subjects that could be more beneficial in the long run, since arts aren’t typically considered practical for everyone. What do you think?
It’s great that you’re excited about pursuing your interests in drama and instrumental band! Arts courses can provide valuable skills such as creativity, collaboration, and communication, which are beneficial regardless of the career path you choose.
However, it’s also important to consider a balanced schedule that includes other subjects. Think about whether there are any other courses that you’re curious about or might need for future education or career goals. You could also consider how these arts classes influence your overall high school experience.
If you feel strongly about continuing both courses, perhaps you could take them for a year and reassess afterward. If you find that you’re too focused on the arts and want to explore something else, the following year can be a great opportunity to switch things up.
Ultimately, it’s about what resonates with you and will help you grow during your high school years. Just make sure to also keep your options open for other interests! Good luck with your decision!
