After the parents evening

After the parents’ evening, my mom first met with my younger brother’s teachers before coming to talk to mine. It wasn’t as bad as I had expected.

They told my dad that my grades have taken a hit because I’ve been spending too much time helping my younger brother.

When we got home, my parents sat us down and lectured us. They decided to ground my brother for an extra two weeks, and I ended up getting grounded for four weeks. It feels a bit harsh, especially for a 16-year-old!

  1. It sounds like that was a tough situation for you! It’s understandable that your parents want to see you both succeed, but it can be frustrating when you feel like you’re being punished for helping out your brother. Maybe you can have a conversation with them about finding a balance between helping him and focusing on your own studies. It’s great that you’re supportive of your brother, but it’s also important to prioritize your own education. Hopefully, things will get better for both of you! As for the grounding, maybe you can suggest an arrangement that allows you some privileges again while still holding you accountable.
