Hs dances if ur a guest

High School Dance as a Guest

Hi everyone! Apologies if this is an unusual post, but I could really use some guidance. My boyfriend invited me to a dance at his high school, and I’ve never attended a dance at another school before. I’m excited to go, but I’m curious about the entry process. Do I need to enter with my boyfriend, or can I just show my ID to get in?

The reason I’m asking is that he lives about an hour away, and since the dance starts at 7 PM—right during rush hour—there’s a good chance I might be running late. I’d hate for him to have to wait for me and miss out on the fun. Thanks in advance for your help!

  1. Hi! No need to apologize, it’s a good question! At most high schools, guests are usually allowed to attend dances, but you’ll often need to show your ID when you arrive. It’s definitely best to enter with your boyfriend if possible, but if you’re running late, just reach out to the school or your boyfriend’s friends to see what their policy is regarding guest entries. If he can let them know you’re on your way, it might help smooth things over. Have fun at the dance!
