Is secondary school the same as middle school?

Is secondary school equivalent to middle school? I noticed there isn’t a specific middle school flair, so I’m unsure if this post fits. Any suggestions?

  1. Secondary school and middle school are generally not the same, though it can vary by country and education system.

In the United States, “middle school” typically refers to grades 6-8 (ages around 11-14), serving as a transition between elementary school and high school. “Secondary school,” on the other hand, often refers to both middle school and high school, encompassing grades 6-12.

In other countries, the definitions can differ again. For example, in the UK, secondary school usually means the schooling that follows primary school (which is equivalent to elementary in the US) and covers ages 11-16 (and sometimes up to 18).
