Genuinely freaking out
I’m feeling really anxious right now. I’ve been homeschooling for both 6th and 7th grade, but I’m eager to attend a traditional school for 8th grade since it’s the final middle school year before high school. My parents applied for me to get into GCA, which is a private Christian school, along with my sisters. […]
I was suspended for using my phone at school. Hello all! I’m a 14-year-old Brazilian in 9th grade, and I’ve had a few run-ins with the recent law banning cell phone use in schools. The first time I got caught was in class—I thought it was no big deal, but I received a warning. The […]
It sounds frustrating to feel sleepy regardless of how much sleep you get! Here are a few tips that might help you stay awake and alert during the school day:
Stay Hydrated: Dehydration can lead to fatigue. Make sure you’re drinking enough water throughout the day.
Healthy Snacks: Opt for nutritious snacks like fruits, nuts, or yogurt. These can provide you with a steady source of energy.
Regular Sleep Schedule: Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends. This helps regulate your body’s internal clock.
Short Naps: If you have the opportunity, short naps (10-20 minutes) can give you a quick energy boost without making you feel groggy.
Move Around: Stand up, stretch, or take a quick walk if you’re feeling drowsy. Physical activity can increase blood flow and wake you up.
Limit Sugar and Caffeine: While it may be tempting to have sugary snacks or caffeinated drinks, they can lead to crashes later on.
Light Exposure: Spend some time outside or in well-lit areas; natural light can help enhance alertness.
Engage in Class: Participation can help keep your mind active. Ask questions or take notes to stay focused.
If you continue to feel overly tired despite making these changes, it might be worth talking to a healthcare professional to rule out any underlying issues. Good luck!
