Does anyone have the same case in their highschool where the “insufferable popular kids” are the “weird” kids ?

Did anyone else experience this in high school where the “popular kids” turned out to be the “weird” ones? Personally, the people I thought I’d connect with as a neurodivergent and artistic person ended up being the worst. They were often narcissistic, insufferable, or two-faced, always caught up in drama. It’s surprising because there are a lot of girls at my school who fit the typical mean girl stereotype, yet they’re some of the kindest and chillest individuals I’ve ever met. It’s such a stark contrast to my previous school experiences and really opened my eyes. I’m curious if anyone else had a similar experience in their high school.

  1. It’s really interesting to hear about your experiences! It sounds like your high school social dynamics are quite different from what you expected. It’s surprising how stereotypes don’t always hold true—sometimes the “popular” kids can be the most genuine, and the so-called “weird” kids can be unpredictable. It’s a reminder that people can surprise you, regardless of how they appear on the surface.

Your feelings about the drama are totally valid; it can be overwhelming to navigate those dynamics, especially if you’re looking for genuine connections. It’s great that you’ve found some kind and chill people, even if they don’t fit the typical mold. It just goes to show that our assumptions often limit us from forming deeper relationships with others.

Have you found any like-minded individuals in your school that you can relate to? It might help to focus on those connections rather than the drama surrounding you. And remember, high school is just one chapter—there’s a whole world out there beyond it!
