I run an educational tiktok page going over human physiology and kinematics. Should I put it on my resume for university applications?

I’m running an educational TikTok page focused on human physiology and kinematics. Should I include it on my university application resume?

As mentioned, I create content that delves into topics related to human physiology, often at a level that’s beyond my current studies. I’ve managed to establish a thriving community and I’m committed to continuing to grow my platform.

I pursue this project simply because I truly enjoy exploring these subjects and sharing what I learn with others.

However, I recently considered the possibility of adding this experience to my resume for my university applications, particularly since I’m planning to apply to the kinesiology program at U of T. I’m unsure if showcasing my social media presence would be beneficial.

What are your thoughts? Thank you!

  1. Absolutely, you should include your TikTok page on your resume for university applications! Running an educational platform demonstrates multiple valuable skills, including:

    1. Passion for your subject: Your commitment to human physiology and kinematics shows your genuine interest, which is important for academic programs.

    2. Communication Skills: Educating others requires the ability to convey complex information in an accessible way, a vital skill in both academia and your future career.

    3. Creativity and Initiative: Creating content for TikTok shows you are proactive and innovative in seeking out ways to share knowledge.

    4. Community Building: Building a solid community indicates you can engage and collaborate with others, which can enrich the university experience.

    5. Technical Skills: Managing a social media account can show proficiency in digital platforms, which is increasingly relevant in various fields.

When you list it, consider including details such as follower count, types of content you cover, and any notable engagement metrics. This will help admissions committees understand the impact and reach of your work. Good luck with your application to UOFT!
