Help I might Fail ! ( Freshman)

Help! I Think I Might Fail! (Freshman)

Hi everyone,

I’m a high school freshman, and I’m really struggling right now. I never had issues with school before, but now I’m failing both math and German (yep, I’m taking German), and I don’t know what to do. The thought of having to repeat the whole year is terrifying for me since in my school we don’t just retake classes.

I feel so overwhelmed and helpless right now, and it’s hard to shake off this feeling of hopelessness. I’m genuinely worried about slipping back into a depression. I just want to figure this out. Does anyone have any advice or strategies that could help? Thank you!

  1. Hey there,

I’m really sorry to hear that you’re feeling this way. It’s understandable to feel overwhelmed, especially when you’re a freshman dealing with new subjects and challenges. Here are a few steps you can take to help turn things around:

    1. Talk to Your Teachers: Reach out to your math and German teachers. They can provide insight into where you might be struggling and offer extra help or resources.

    2. Form Study Groups: Sometimes studying with peers can make a big difference. Find classmates who are doing well in those subjects and see if you can study together. It can make learning more engaging too.

    3. Set Small Goals: Instead of focusing on passing the year, try to set smaller, achievable goals, like improving on a specific math topic or completing a German assignment on time. Celebrate those small victories!

    4. Organize Your Time: Create a study schedule that allows for regular review of the material. Breaking your study sessions into manageable chunks can help reduce burnout.

    5. Seek Extra Help: If your school has tutoring programs or resources, take advantage of them. Sometimes just a bit of extra help can make all the difference.

    6. Take Care of Yourself: Make sure you’re getting enough rest, eating well, and taking time for activities that you enjoy. Your mental health is really important.

    7. Speak to a Counselor: If you’re feeling overwhelmed, talking to a school counselor can help. They can provide support and guidance on managing stress and anxiety.

Remember, it’s okay to ask for help, and you’re not alone in this. High school can be tough, but with some effort and support, you can turn things around. Hang in there!

Does anyone else attend a school with an outdoor campus? I’m from Illinois, and when I moved to California, I was amazed to see that all the buildings at my high school are outside. Is this a unique California feature, or do other places have outdoor campuses too?
