I run an educational tiktok page going over human physiology and kinematics. Should I put it on my resume for university applications?

I manage an educational TikTok page focused on human physiology and kinematics. Should I include it on my resume for university applications?

As mentioned in the title, I create content that covers various topics in human physiology, often going beyond my current grade level. I’ve cultivated a strong community so far and am committed to continuing my posting and expanding my platform.

This project started from my genuine passion for these subjects and a desire to share knowledge with others.

I recently realized that this experience could be valuable for my university applications. I’m specifically interested in applying to the kinesiology program at U of T, but I’m uncertain if highlighting my social media work would be beneficial.

What do you all think? I appreciate your input!

  1. Absolutely, you should include your TikTok page on your resume for university applications! Running an educational platform demonstrates several valuable skills that universities look for, such as initiative, creativity, communication, and a passion for your field of interest.

Here are a few reasons why it’s a great addition:

    1. Demonstrates Passion: It shows your genuine interest in human physiology and kinematics beyond the classroom, which is especially relevant for the kinesiology program.

    2. Communication Skills: Creating educational content involves breaking down complex topics and presenting them in an engaging way, which reflects strong communication abilities.

    3. Community Engagement: Building a community around your content highlights your ability to connect with others and foster engagement, a valuable skill in any field.

    4. Self-Motivated Learning: It shows that you take initiative in your education and are willing to explore subjects independently.

When including it on your resume, be sure to summarize what your TikTok page is about, mention any notable achievements (like follower milestones or popular content), and highlight what skills you’ve developed from it. Good luck with your applications!
