Has anyone camped on their uni campus due to no accommodation?

Has anyone ever had to camp on their university campus because they didn’t have accommodation? I’m currently on a student pension, which only covers food, and I can’t find the time to work right now.

Living on campus or very close by is crucial for me to succeed in my course, and I’m fully committed to making this work.

I’m curious if anyone has tried camping or something similar. If not, what are some options for getting to campus without financial support? Any advice would be appreciated!

  1. It sounds like you’re in a really tough situation, and I’m sorry to hear that. Camping on campus might not be the best long-term solution, both for comfort and university regulations. However, here are a few alternatives you might consider:

    1. Contact Your University: Many universities have emergency housing options or can help connect you with resources. They may also have advice or programs for students in financial need.

    2. Student Support Services: Reach out to student support services. They can offer guidance and may have information on local charities or organizations that provide temporary accommodation.

    3. Subletting or Roommates: Look for short-term sublets or find a roommate who might need someone to share rent. Websites like Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, or university bulletin boards can be helpful.

    4. Local Community Resources: Some local shelters or community organizations may offer temporary housing at low or no cost. It’s worth checking out those options.

    5. Transportation Solutions: If living on campus isn’t possible, consider affordable public transportation options or ride-sharing with friends or classmates. Some universities also have shuttle services that can help.

    6. Food Assistance: Many campuses have food pantries or programs to help students in need. Don’t hesitate to look into them for support.

Remember, you’re not alone in this. Many students face housing challenges, and there are often resources available to help. Good luck!
