Frustrating prom rules! At my school, there’s this ridiculous policy that says you can’t attend prom if you have over 10 tardies or absences in the semester. At first, it seems reasonable, but then I found out that they include excused absences too! What’s up with that? Sure, it makes sense to exclude students who skip class often, but it’s unfair to punish someone who had to leave school because they were sick or had a family emergency.

Attention, seniors! I received my cap and gown today! What are the colors of your school?
My teacher gave me his number (not in a weird way), and I kind of like him. What should I do? I appreciate your advice, but please, no negativity. It was just a silly crush, and I never intended to act on it. I’m making this post to help myself move past these feelings. Let […]
I’m really feeling overwhelmed with school right now. Waking up every morning at 5:30 AM EST is tough, and getting out of bed is a challenge. The bus comes at 6:44 AM EST, which doesn’t make things any easier. I’m constantly exhausted, and this week has hit me hard; the daily grind is wearing me […]
I totally get your frustration! It feels unfair that excused absences are counted the same way as unexcused ones. Life happens, and sometimes you can’t help but miss school for valid reasons. It seems like the school should take into account individual situations rather than having a strict one-size-fits-all rule. Prom is such a big deal for a lot of students, and it’s a shame that these policies can ruin the experience for those who genuinely couldn’t help their absences. Maybe you could bring it up with the administration or see if there’s a way for students to advocate for a more reasonable policy?
