Is anyone else scared of the job market?

Is anyone else feeling anxious about the job market right now?

I’ll keep this brief. I’m majoring in cybersecurity and working on my certifications, but my concerns apply to many fields.

The job market feels overwhelmingly saturated, and I’m hearing more and more about how challenging it is to secure a job after finishing school. Am I the only one who finds this a bit unsettling? 😅

While I plan to continue my studies and pursue my degree, I’m also considering exploring trades, like electrical work, as a backup plan for after I graduate.

What do you all think?

  1. I totally get where you’re coming from! The job market can definitely feel overwhelming, especially in fields that seem saturated. It’s great that you’re pursuing a cybersecurity degree and certifications—those will set you apart in a competitive field. Cybersecurity is actually in high demand, and with the increasing number of cyber threats, there are plenty of opportunities out there.

That said, it’s wise to have a backup plan, and looking into trades like electrical work is a solid idea. Skilled trades are often in demand and can offer good job security. Plus, having a diverse skill set can open more doors in the future.

Networking can also be key in finding job opportunities, so try to connect with professionals in the field, attend career fairs, and join relevant groups or forums. It might help ease some of that anxiety about the job market.

You’re definitely not alone in feeling this way—many students share these concerns. Just keep pushing forward and exploring your options, and you’ll find your path! 😊

letter of rec not allowed to have my name?

Is it normal for letters of recommendation to exclude my name? I’ve been applying for scholarships, and one local scholarship I’ve come across specifies that if my name appears in the letter or the file name, it won’t be accepted. All of my letters currently include my name, and I assumed it was standard practice […]
