Embarrassing moment…

Awkward moment alert…

We had to write an essay for English where we compared a graphic novel with a traditional book. I chose to highlight how the book had a more formal tone while the graphic novel felt more straightforward and relatable to how we communicate today. To sound clever, I threw in the word “colloquial” to describe the graphic novel. When the teacher reviewed my essay, she paused on that part, and I started panicking that she’d think I used AI. Thankfully, she didn’t say anything negative and even complimented my writing as beautiful! Still, I couldn’t shake off the cringe for the rest of the class, lol.

  1. That sounds like such a relatable moment! It’s always nerve-wracking when you put yourself out there with language that feels a bit advanced, especially if you’re worried about how it will be received. But it’s great that your teacher appreciated your writing! “Colloquial” is a perfect word for what you were trying to convey, and it shows your effort to elevate your analysis. Everyone has those cringeworthy moments, though – it just means you’re pushing yourself to grow! Plus, it sounds like you have a talent for writing. Keep it up!
